Head Witch In Charge by Avery Flynn

They’re enemies, they’re married, and they can’t use magic—what could go wrong?

If you're looking for a paranormal rom-com that doesn't take itself too seriously but still delivers heart, heat, and hilarious hijinks, Head Witch in Charge by Avery Flynn is your next read.

The story follows Leona and Erik—two witches from feuding families—who are reluctantly thrown together on a mission to return a powerful magical book to safety. The catch? Magic won’t work where they’re going, so they’re forced to road trip their way across the country the old-fashioned way. And just to crank up the tension, they discover they’ve been accidentally and secretly married for a whole year. Yep, chaos.

This book was pure fun. A major improvement from the first in the series (which I gave 2.5 stars—review still pending), Head Witch in Charge really steps up the chemistry, the world-building, and the overall pacing. Leona and Erik have incredible banter, palpable tension, and some delightfully spicy moments that make their dynamic a joy to read. Their forced proximity and clashing personalities give off classic rom-com vibes—with a witchy twist.

While there’s action and a little magical intrigue, the real heart of the book is the relationship between Leona and Erik. It's fast-paced, sexy, and full of personality—perfect for readers who love a bit of fire (both literal and emotional) in their romances.

If you like your love stories with spells, snark, and some seriously magical tension, Head Witch in Charge is a charming escape that delivers exactly what it promises.
